About the profession
Medicine is one of the oldest sciences. Over time it has developed and perfected, increasing knowledge about the origin and development of disease processes in humans. As Avicenna has once said: "Medicine is like philosophy. It is both practical and theoretical art. "
The most extensive part of internal medicine occupy diseases which combine various subdisciplines such as pulmonology, cardiology, gastroenterology, endocrinology, hematology, nephrology and rheumatology.
The doctor - specialist in internal diseases in his/her practice meets most diseases of the human body. So he must be very well prepared to guide this vast ocean of information and knowledge that he has to acquire and continuously review. Internal diseases specialist has to receive, retrieve, summarize and analyze patient’s data to compare them with the knowledge he has, to implement additional diagnostic tests, to consult with various other specialists, until reaching the diagnosis. In this long diagnostic path among the major weapons of the specialist, besides his knowledge, are his experience and intuition.
About the diagnostics
No disease proceeds in one and the same way by different people.
An important condition is always to have an individual approach to each patient. Lets not forget that most diseases and their symptoms were studied and described only by this approach long before modern laboratories, radiology and other diagnostic tests appeared. Through careful study of medical history, detailed reporting of patient complaints and so-called physical examination, with its techniques of listening, touching and tapping, violations have been demonstrated in various organs and systems.

Sometimes patients, reading on the Internet for their symptoms, make their own diagnoses and conduct their own template treatments mechanically. This approach leads to further complications and treatment failure.
