General information
Early diagnosis of breast tumors is the main goal of a mammology examination. Regular preventive check-ups are an important part of every woman's health care, as they help detect changes in breast tissue, including those that do not cause symptoms. VITA recommends having a preventive examination every year and not postponing it until complaints appear.
The consultation includes a detailed medical history (the patient's subjective sensations), a clinical examination (bimanual palpation and inspection of both breasts), and a thorough examination of the gland's parenchyma using a modern ultrasound scanner (ultrasound).
Mammography examinations at VITA
Mammography is an X-ray method for examining the breasts in different planes and projections, using the lowest possible doses of X-rays. It is the best preventive method available today for the early diagnosis of breast cancer and can reveal changes in the breast up to 2 years before the patient or physician would otherwise suspect them.
DCC VITA has modern equipment for digital 2D mammography and for 3D mammography with tomosynthesis:
- Base 1: digital 2D mammography
- Base 2: 3D mammography with tomosynthesis
You can choose whichever location is most convenient for you. The appropriate type of examination is determined individually according to age, risk factors, previous examinations, and the specialist's medical judgment.
What is the difference between ultrasound and mammography?
Ultrasound examination is a non-X-ray method for examining the breasts. This method cannot fully replace mammography, but it is used as a supplementary examination to assess and resolve diagnostic issues related to findings visible on mammography. It is particularly suitable for young women and for women with denser breast tissue.
