Information

The morbid veins are eliminated by a Stripper. Venous edema of the leg is tassumed by the deep veins.

Procedure

By rule, this operation is carried out under spinal or general anesthesia.

Stripping of vena Saphena Magna

The vein is operated in the region of inguinal fold by 2 cm long incision. All its branches are ligated (tightened by thread) which does not allow formation of recurrent phantom pains. After release of vein in the shank region, it is eliminated by the introduced stripper. The lateral morbid and dilated branches of the same vein are eliminated by phlebectomy.

Post-operative period

Compressing stocks or dressings are worn about 2 weeks after the operation to avoid hematomas and formation of edema.

Risks and undesirable effects

Hematomas and light indurations are noticed most often. By rule, they disappear within the next weeks. Nervous lesions may be noticed (reduced sensitivity in the region of eliminated vein) which fade down in the next several months.
