Epigastric hernias are also known as hernias of the white line, which is located on the anterior abdominal wall from the sternum to the navel. They are obtained as a result of increased intra-abdominal pressure and destruction of the mesh structure of tendon extensors in the area, which are pierced by blood vessels. According to their localization, they are divided into epigastric, the most common (81%), periumbilical - paraumbilical (16%) and hypogastric (3%). Often, these hernias are found accidentally or have a rather dramatic clinical picture, due to the small size of the sac and frequent entrapment. When the treatment, which is only surgical, is postponed, they could develop huge dimensions.
