Since December 2009 “Vita” Hospital has a modern 3/4D ultrasonic unit with application in all spheres of medicine. One of its main functions shall be applied in the sphere of prenatal diagnosis /Diagnosis of fetus prior to delivery /.
The performance of specialized examinations by 3/4D ultrasound in the relevant periods of pregnancy, recommended by the obstetrician-gynecologist, may guarantee the delivery of a healthy baby
The specialists at “Vita”
1. Screening in the 1st trimester /11 - 14 gestation week/ - compulsory examination, which will exclude up to 90% of the possibility that your child will have Down syndrome or other chromosomal lesion. It includes early fetal morphology and biochemical screening i.e. your baby shall be thoroughly studied by ultrasound to exclude rough defects and existence of ultrasonic markers for chromosomal abnormalities. Thereafter blood shall be taken from you to test two indices related to pregnancy - ßhCG and РАРРА.
2. Screening in the 2nd trimester /15-19 gestation week/- if you miss the first screening, it is necessary to undergo this one, but you have to bear in mind that it is with less sensitivity – under 60%. It includes ultrasonic examination and biochemical indices /α-fetoprotein and ßhCG/. Defects in the development of neural tube and anterior abdominal wall of fetus may be rejected in this pregnancy term.
3. Fetal morphology /19 - 23 gestation week/ - compulsory examination. In this period your baby is sufficiently big to see by ultrasound the bigger part of baby's organs and systems. Biometrical indices of fetus are measured. Skull, brain, extremities, internal organs, fluid amniotic and placenta are studied accurately. Doppler's examination, if necessary, is done for some vessels. In this period it is suitable to see how your baby looks like in reality. The equipment at “Vita” Hospital allows making a disc with clips how the baby moves, waves hand, yawns or sleeps.
4. Fetal morphology /28 – 32 gestation week/ - this is the last specialized ultrasonic examination, if your baby is healthy and develops normally. Biometrical indices of fetus are measured again and thorough examination of organs and systems is done, in order to exclude abnormalities, which develop at later stage from prenatal development. Doppler’s examination is done for the vessels to evaluate the correct blood supply of placenta and fetus. Three-dimensional image of the baby in this period is close to that, how really the baby will look like after being born.
