Cushing’s syndrome is a morbid state, developing as a result of increased production of cortisol from suprarenals. Several forms are observed – in tumors of hypophysis secreting ACTH, suprarenal tumors, ectopic secretion from other tumors, medicinal. The lesion passes with changes in appearance – rounding f face, obesity in chests and abdomen, long-tapering of extremities, red-violet striae on skin, easy vulneration of blood vessels. It is found muscular weakness, diabetes mellitus, arterial hypertension, osteoporosis, menstrual disorders in women, increased pilosity, acne. Diagnosis is established by dynamic tests, examining hypophyseal-supralenal axis and magnetic resonance tomography of hypophysis and suprarenals. Treatment is surgical in tumor forms.
