Facial aging and the appearance of wrinkles result from various factors and causes, which are sometimes interconnected and follow one another. Different causes lead to different results and determine the choice of technique for wrinkle removal.

The fight against wrinkles begins with prevention: using various moisturizing creams (suited to skin type), protection from sunlight, regular cleansing, and so on. Once formed, wrinkles can be removed through various methods: surgical intervention, laser techniques, or by filling them in. The correct choice for wrinkle removal should be determined by a specialist skilled in all these methods, since they are not interchangeable and different types of wrinkles call for different approaches.

Here we will focus on wrinkle removal through filling with various products - fillers (from English "fill").

The fight against wrinkles was first taken up by American aesthetic surgeons. It began with collagen, one of the main components of the skin. Animal collagen (mainly bovine) was used for this purpose. In 1987, these products arrived in Europe, first registered in France, before being ultimately banned (along with all types of collagen-based products) in 1998. In the meantime, widespread use began of all sorts of products with the ultimate goal of erasing and smoothing wrinkles and turning back time - starting with threads made from cat gut, moving through various types of plastic microspheres dissolved in gel, and even reaching gold threads...!

Broadly speaking, wrinkle-filling preparations are divided into 2 types:

• Permanent (non-resorbable)
• Temporary (resorbable)

The first type of product includes Artecoll - the most widely used and most reliable product in the group of permanent fillers. Over the past 4-5 years, we have observed a major evolution in injectable products - they have become resorbable, non-allergenic, and better tolerated by the skin.

One of the largest shares in this regard belongs to products based on hyaluronic acid (Rofilan, Reviderm, Restylane, Juvederm, and others), which are becoming increasingly numerous. Their effect lasts from 6 months to 1 year. The procedure for placing them is very gentle and painless.

The results achieved with hyaluronic acid-based products give a natural, unobtrusive effect on the patient's face - whether it involves smoothing wrinkles, augmenting the lips, or filling in irregularities and hollows. Fillers can be combined with laser procedures, mesotherapy, or lifting, depending on the needs and the desired final result.
