Information
Hyperpigmentation is dark spots that appear on our skin, and may be due to various conditions and diseases, such as exposure to sunlight, pregnancy, Addison's disease, medication, etc..
The most common skin hyperpigmentations are: age spots, blemishes after pregnancy, freckles, spots from cosmetics or taking certain medications, etc.
Age hyperpigmentation is recently observed in more women. The first signs appear over the age of 40, and 9 out of 10 women over 50 are affected. Frequent and prolonged sunbathing increases the probability of early receipt of pigmentation.
Freckles are small pigmented spots in size from simple to lentil bean, with light brown color, smooth, located at the level of the skin. They occur in pale people and those with red hair. Freckles are hereditary in nature. They are found most often in areas exposed to the sun - face, neck, shoulders, chest.
Pigment spots are dark colored areas of skin in women over 35 years. They have various shapes and sizes and sharp outlines. Their color goes from light yellow to dark brown. Usually they are located symmetrically on the cheeks, temples, upper lip, nose, etc.
The reasons for the appearance of pigmentation (chloasma, melasma) are diverse: pregnancy, oral contraceptives, some cosmetics (soaps, creams, oil), medications (tetracyclines, antimalarials), anemia, cachexia, liver diseases.
Once spots begin to emerge and if one does not take effective measures, hyperpigmentation of the skin increases and aging accelerates.
Modern methods of treatment are different - different types of peels, laser, IPL treatments, cosmetic whitening products. Treatment is performed in autumn and winter by a dermatologist.
