Osteoporosis is a lesion specified by loss of bone mass, disturbed structure of bone and increased trend to fractures. The lesion affects most frequent women of Caucasian race, with graceful skeleton, with early climax, smokers and hereditary encumbrance. Osteoporosis is primary and secondary as a result from other lesion. The main and unavoidable factor is advanced age. The most frequent reasons for secondary osteoporosis are the increased function of parathyroid glands, Cushing’s syndrome, thyrotoxicosis, diabetes mellitus, chronic renal and hepatic lesions, malignant blood lesions. Spontaneous breaking of spinal vertebrae are frequent and after period of time resulting in “widow’s hump” with reduction of height by 5-10 cm. Early diagnosis is based on clinical examination, osteometry and paraclinical examinations.
