Information

This is a lesion in young people. Most often it is in men at the age of 16 to 25 years. It is a saclike formation, located on the midline, immediately above the anal cleft, covered by epithelium and filled most often by hairs. It is considered that the reason is rudimentary residues from the tail, which is in this place in the animals. At non-complicated lesion there are no complaints, but at infection of cyst and its content, develops purulent inflammatory process, which gradually covers the adjacent healthy tissues. Infection may be caused by trauma in this region (driving, riding, cycling, etc.). The patient complains from gradually increasing pains with pulsations, heat of the place, raised body temperature. If not treated, the abscess opens spontaneously and a part of the purulent collection is evacuated. The status is temporary relieved, but the cyst remains and follows a new infection, with new engagement of adjacent healthy tissues and thus the process is repeated many times by formation of many sacs and fistulas. There is a chronic inflammatory process, endangering to damage vital organs and systems of organism. Treatment of this frequent lesion is only by surgical intervention. It is significantly easier and successful prior appearance of infection and complications. Then at local anesthesia, the cyst is eliminated. In case of complications, which most often is abscess, it is necessary by emergency to open the sac and clean the pus to provide possibility for the organism and tissues to overcome the infection and on the next stage to eliminate the cyst.
