Assoc. Prof. Vladimir Rusimov, M.D. is the new head of the Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology at VITA

From the 1st of February Vita Hospital’s team is being joined by another well-established professional with many years of experience and authority in the healthcare field.

Dr. Vladimir Rusimov is the new head of the Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology. He is a specialist in orthopedics and traumatology, sports medicine and arthroscopy. He has extensive professional experience in the field of shoulder surgery - fractures, endoprosthetics, arthroscopic reconstructions and muscle-tendon transposition, as well as in the field of arthroscopic reconstructive surgery of the hip, knee and ankle joints.

Dr. Rusimov graduated medicine in 1995 at MU-Sofia. Since 2002, he has acquired the specialty "Orthopaedics and Traumatology". He specialized in France, Germany, Switzerland, Spain, Belgium. His professional path has so far started at UMBALSM "N. I. Pirogov", where he was the head of the "Arthroscopic Traumatology" department at the Third Orthopedic Traumatology Clinic of the "N. I. Pirogov" (2006-2007). In 2007, he started working in the newly created "Arthroscopic Traumatology" clinic at the Department of Orthopedic Traumatology and Reconstructive Surgery of the Military Medical Academy Hospital, which he led for several years. In 2012, he successfully defended his dissertation on "Arthroscopic stabilization in anterior traumatic shoulder instability", and in 2015 he acquired the academic position of ". Prof. Rusimov has over 100 publications, reports and participation in congresses, conferences and courses at the national and international level.

He is a member of the Bulgarian Orthopedic and Traumatology Association, the European Federation of National Associations of Orthopedics and Traumatology (The European Federation of National Associations of Orthopaedics and Traumatology - EFORT), the European Society for Sports Traumatology, Knee Surgery and Arthroscopy (European Society for Sports Traumatology, Knee Surgery and Arthroscopy) and the International Society of Orthopedic Surgery and Traumatology (Société Internationale de Chirurgie Orthopédique et de Traumatologie International – SICOT).
