VITA is the first private health facility in Sofia. In just a few months it will celebrate its 31st birthday. This fall, we also celebrate 19 years since we started carrying out inpatient treatment - the opening of MBAL VITA. On this occasion, Dr. Tihomir Savchev, founder and owner of "Vita", talks about key moments in the history of VITA Hospital and some of the greatest achievements of the team over the years.
"Our mission as doctors is to help people lead better and healthier life’s and live longer. VITA is the first private health facility in Sofia, and probably in the country. The initial investment, as well as all subsequent investments, came from us as a family, where medicine has always been a calling – there is no involvement of funds and external capital, which I think distinguishes us from other other facilities.
We put a lot of love and effort into our work and as always we have treated our patients as part of our family. We have gone through many difficulties, but also successes in the 31-year history of VITA. We are proud of the team of professionals and all the innovations we have introduced. More than 30 doctors and administrative staff have been working with us since the establishment of the hospital - thanks to their work and dedication, as well as to thousands of patients, we are one of the most trusted healthcare facilities in the country.
VITA Hospital is a large structure, which is divided into out-patient diagnostics and hospital in-patient care.
MBAL VITA has existed since 2004. Then VITA's first baby was born in the maternity ward. We are looking forward to the birth of Baby 10,000, which we will share with great pride and gratitude to all the parents who have trusted us over the past 19 years!
At VITA Hospital, our patients are cared for by proven specialists from over 30 fields of modern medicine. We have 13 departments and clinics, 8 operating rooms, individual delivery rooms, VIP studios and modern medical equipment to meet the needs of our patients.
We currently have two facilities in Sofia: at 9 Dragovitsa Street and 10 Filip Kutev Street. Base 2 is about to expand as we have a great need to increase our bed capacity and add more space for new equipment. For us, the introduction of modern methods and innovations in diagnostics and treatment is a priority, therefore we place huge importance on giving our specialists with the newest and best equipment, including robotics. Every investment in VITA Hospital was made with the aim of better healthcare: correct diagnosis, better medical care and of course - disease prevention.
Over the years, we have offered accompanying medical services, thanks to which VITA is a modern healthcare facility. In February 2011, we opened a specialized structure to help couples with reproductive problems - VITA Invitro Center, and the center's first invitro baby was born in October of the same year.
Patient treatment options are expanding along with the structure of VITA Hospital. In 2006, we opened the VITA Hernia Center, which today is one of the best in the country. In recent years, the following have also been introduced: Dysplasia Center for the prevention of cervical diseases, Department for the treatment of burns, Pediatric Urology at the Department of Urology, VITA Pain Center, which deals with the treatment of chronic pain, VITA Hospice, which is for the care of the elderly parents of our patients.
Since March 2016, VITA Hospital has been performing Metabolic and Bariatric surgery. We believe that this type of procedures are the future in the fight against obesity and type 2 diabetes and we as an innovative team, have a major contribution to its popularization in Bulgaria.
The long-term work and professionalism of the team has been rewarded with the "Hospital of the Year" award in 2018.
The first 30 years have passed since the establishment of VITA Hospital. On the eve of the 31st birthday, we feel gratitude both to our patients and to all fellow doctors, employees and medical staff who are with us and support VITA's cause for high quality Bulgarian healthcare!"
