The Transfusion Hematology Laboratory at VITA Hospital is staffed with qualified professionals and equipped with modern, state-of-the-art technology, enabling precise immunohematological diagnostics. The main activity of the Laboratory is performing immunohematological diagnostics for patients, which includes both basic and additional tests.
The Laboratory carries out the following examinations within the scope of general immunohematology:
- Blood group typing – ABO and Rh(D) system
- Typing of red blood cell antigens outside the ABO and Rhesus systems
- Screening for anti-erythrocyte antibodies
- Identification and semi-quantitative determination of detected antibodies (titer)
- Pre-transfusion compatibility testing
- Investigations for hemolytic post-transfusion reactions
Antenatal, perinatal, and postnatal diagnostics, monitoring of pregnant women and newborns, consulting services and care related to the prevention of hemolytic disease of the newborn (HDN).
