Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dida Kazakova, MD, PhD graduated from the Medical Academy, Sofia, and completed a clinical residency in ophthalmology at the Helmholtz Institute, Moscow.
She completed specializations in the field of glaucoma in Tel Aviv, London, Lausanne, Cologne, Basel, and Leipzig. In 1999, she won a scholarship from the European Glaucoma Society.
With this scholarship in Germany, she defended a doctoral dissertation under the supervision of Prof. Günter Krieglstein in glaucoma surgery. Since 2009, she has been working at University Hospital "Lozenets" and is a lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine of Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski".
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dida Kazakova, MD, PhD is regularly invited as a guest lecturer at world congresses in ophthalmology.
Her area of interest is glaucoma - the second leading cause of blindness in the world.
She was awarded the European Society of Ophthalmology Award for Teachers in 2015.
She is the author of a chapter in the American publication by Nova Science Publishers "Focus on Glaucoma Research".
