Assoc. Prof. Petrana Doynova is a pediatric surgery specialist in Sofia with over 40 years of experience.
Her main focus is on pediatric abdominal trauma and surgical diseases of the abdominal organs and the inguinal canal, such as acute appendicitis, intussusception, pyloric stenosis, hepatic echinococcosis, inguinal and umbilical hernias, hydrocele, and cryptorchidism in children. She also works with children suffering from constipation and incontinence.
She has contributed to 110 publications and scientific reports in Bulgarian and international medical journals, monographs, pediatric surgery textbooks, and scientific projects on pediatric trauma. She has served as a lecturer and instructor in pediatric surgery for Bulgarian and international medical students, as well as residents in emergency medicine and pediatrics, and has been a guest lecturer in postgraduate courses and seminars both in Bulgaria and abroad.
She graduated in Medicine in 1981 and obtained specialties in General Medicine and Pediatric Surgery.
Since 2016, she has been an Associate Professor of Pediatric Surgery after defending her dissertation on the topic: “Modern Management of Closed Abdominal Trauma in Childhood.”
