Information

Dr. Popova graduated in Medicine in 2000 from the Medical University – Sofia.

In 2003, she successfully passed the United States Medical Licensing Examination and obtained the right to practice medicine in the USA, where she volunteered at Resurrection Hospital, Chicago, Illinois. In the same year, she also worked as a national consultant for the UN on the program “Improving Sexual and Reproductive Health of Young People in South and Eastern Europe.”

She specialized at the University Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital “Maichin Dom,” where in 2007 she obtained her specialty in Obstetrics and Gynecology.

In 2008, she completed postgraduate studies in minimally invasive surgery at WALS (World Association of Laparoscopic Surgeons) at Laparoscopic Hospital, Delhi, India.

Dr. Borislava Popova has completed qualification courses in ultrasound and Doppler diagnostics in obstetrics and gynecology, colposcopy and destructive treatment of cervical precancerous lesions, laparoscopy and hysteroscopy (diagnostic and operative) in gynecology, operative gynecology, and high-risk pregnancy. She has attended specialized courses in bipolar resectoscopic hysteroscopic surgery at ESGE, Florence, Italy; colposcopy under Prof. Albert Singer; endoscopic gynecology – myomectomies, hysterectomies (MIC II) in Kiel, Germany.
In 2017, she obtained a Bachelor’s diploma in Endoscopic Surgery from the European Academy of Gynecological Surgery, Leuven, Belgium.

Professional experience:
From 2007 to 2014, she worked at Tokuda Hospital Sofia as an obstetrician-gynecologist in the Department of General and Oncological Gynecology and Pelvic Surgery.
In 2014, she won a competition for an assistant position at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at “Maichin Dom,” where she worked as an OB-GYN and taught Bulgarian and international medical and dental students.
From 2015 to 2017, she worked at Acibadem City Clinic Tokuda Hospital – Sofia in the Department of General and Oncological Gynecology and Pelvic Surgery.
Since 2018, Dr. Borislava Popova has been working as an obstetrician-gynecologist at the Department of Gynecology, VITA Hospital.

She is a member of the Bulgarian Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology (BSOG), the Bulgarian Medical Association (BMA), the Bulgarian Association of Minimally Invasive Gynecology (BAMIG), the World Association of Laparoscopic Surgeons (WALS), and the European Society for Gynaecological Endoscopy (ESGE).

Her professional interests focus on minimally invasive gynecological surgery, as well as the prevention and treatment of cervical precancerous lesions.
