Dr. Maria Yocheva is a pediatrician-neonatologist with more than 18 years of experience. She graduated in medicine in 2006 from Medical University Sofia. She specialized in Pediatric Endocrinology, Metabolic Diseases and Clinical Genetics at SBALDB "Ivan Mitev", and also completed postgraduate training at Medical University Varna in Ultrasound Diagnostics in Pediatric Endocrinology, as well as health management at VMA. In 2021 she also obtained her specialty in Neonatology at SBALDB Ivan Mitev.
From 2006 to 2012 she worked as an endocrinologist at Medical Center "Dr. Evdokia Markova", and from 2012 to 2021 as a pediatrician and endocrinologist at First Pediatric Consultative Clinic. From 2013 to 2017 she worked in the Department of Neonatology at Second City Hospital. In 2017 she became part of the Department of Neonatology at Sofiamed, and in 2021 she was appointed Head of the same department.
Her interests are in the field of care for low-birth-weight newborns and monitoring their growth rate, as well as the risks of metabolic disorders. She dedicates her free time to family, travel and music.
Since November 1, 2024, Dr. Maria Yocheva has been Head of the Department of Neonatology at Hospital VITA.
