  • 1973 - Prof. Elisaveta Petrova graduated in Medicine from the Medical Academy, Sofia
  • 1979 - Obtained specialty in "Pneumology and Phthisiatry"
  • 1988 - Obtained second specialty in "Occupational Diseases"
  • 1988 - Defended a doctoral dissertation for "Doctor of Medicine" with the thesis: "Late Forms of Silicosis and Silicotuberculosis"
  • 2005 - Obtained the academic degree of "Doctor of Medical Sciences" following the defense of the dissertation "Dust-Related Occupational Pulmonary Diseases from Inorganic Dusts"

From 1974, she worked consecutively as a resident physician in the Rheumatocardiology Department at the First-Grade District Hospital, Blagoevgrad. During the period 1975-1979, she was a clinical resident at the Institute of Pulmonary Diseases and in the internal medicine clinics of the Medical Academy, Sofia. In 1979, she was a resident physician (2 months) at the Thoracic Clinic of the National Institute of Oncology, Sofia. From 1979, she worked consecutively as a resident physician in the respiratory function testing unit, Specialized TELK for Occupational Diseases; research associate 2nd degree in the pulmonary department; senior assistant (head of sector and head of the pneumoconiosis department); senior research associate 2nd degree in the pulmonary department at the Clinic of Occupational Diseases; member and chair of the Diagnostic and Expert Commission on Occupational Diseases. From 2002 to 2010, she was senior research associate 2nd degree and professor - Head of the Clinic of Occupational Diseases, University MBAL "St. Ivan Rilski", Sofia. From 01.12.2010, she has been Head of the "Preventive Medicine" sector at DCC "Tokuda", Sofia.

Author of over 250 scientific works and leader of numerous scientific projects. Prof. Petrova has been a long-standing member of the "Bulgarian Scientific Society of Pulmonary Diseases", and since 2008 has been chair of the newly formed Bulgarian Scientific Society of Occupational Diseases. She is a member of the European Respiratory Society (ERS).

For 31 years, she taught "Occupational Diseases" as an assistant, associate professor, and professor at the Department of Occupational Diseases at the Medical University of Sofia, and for 9 years taught English-language courses for foreign students at the Medical University of Pleven and the Medical University of Sofia. Since 2016, she has been a lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine of Sofia University "Kliment Ohridski".

Prof. Petrova does not see pediatric patients.
