Prof. Dr. Radosvet Gornev graduated from the Medical University in Sofia in 1990. He obtained a specialty in general surgery in 1996. Prof. Dr. Gornev has consistently specialized in leading clinics in Bulgaria, Europe and the USA in the field of biliary-hepatic and pancreatic surgery, colorectal surgery, laparoscopic and robotic surgery.
In 2003, he was a scholarship holder of the Cleveland Clinic - USA, under the supervision of Prof. Steven Wexner. In 2006, he obtained a master's degree in health management at UNSS, Sofia. In 2010 he specialized in laparoscopic hernioplasty in Södertälä, Sweden. In 2011, he underwent a live donor liver transplant course in Istanbul, Turkey. In 2011, he participated in an individual program in biliary-hepatic, pancreatic and gastrointestinal surgery at the Clinical Center in Ljubljana, Slovenia.
In the period 1991–2008, he worked as a resident surgeon at the First City Hospital in Sofia. From 2008 to 2023, Prof. Dr. Gornev heads the General Surgery Clinic at Lozenets General Hospital. Since 2011 is a teacher at the Faculty of Medicine of the Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski". In 2016, he was elected associate professor of surgery at the University of St. Kliment Ohridski". Since 2019, he is the Head of the Department of Surgical Diseases, Obstetrics and Gynecology.
He has experience in stomach and duodenum-resection and plastic surgery, liver and biliary system surgery, including liver transplants, pancreatic surgery, colorectal surgery, plastic-reconstructive surgery for abdominal wall hernias, mammary gland surgery for benign and malignant lesions with axillary lymph dissection in breast carcinoma, surgical treatment in diabetic foot and HANC, emergency surgery, laparoscopic surgery.
