Dr. Sara Stateva has been part of the Operative Gynecology and Pelvic Surgery Department at VITA Hospital since October 2024. She graduated from Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Rome in July 2024, defending her thesis on “Clinical and ultrasound characteristics of serous and mucinous cystadenomas in the adnexa.”
As a student, she volunteered both in Italy – at Policlinico Universitario Agostino Gemelli – and in Bulgaria, at the Cardiac Surgery Clinic of UMHAT "St. Ekaterina" and the Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinic of UMHAT Tokuda. At the end of her medical studies, Dr. Stateva participated in a university exchange program and completed a rotation in the Maternal-Fetal Medicine Department at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, USA.
Since the beginning of her residency, Dr. Stateva has attended numerous training courses and congresses in Bulgaria and abroad. She is a member of the Bulgarian Medical Association (BMA); Bulgarian Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology (BSOG); Bulgarian Association of Minimally Invasive and Robotic Surgery (BAMIRS); and the International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology (ISUOG).
Dr. Stateva speaks English, Italian, and French. Her professional interests focus on ultrasound diagnostics of benign tumors, diagnosis and treatment of gynecologic oncology conditions, and endoscopic and laparoscopic gynecologic surgery.
