Fibromas are painless, non-cancerous skin growths that occur in both sexes, especially after the age of 50. They can appear anywhere on the body, most often in skin folds. Fibromas are smooth, round, and soft to the touch, either skin-colored or darker.
It is believed that there is a higher risk of developing this type of growth in people who are overweight, have insulin resistance or type 2 diabetes, as well as in those infected with the human papillomavirus (HPV).
