Information

Male chests should look distinctly male, but gynecomastia often stands in the way of that.

What is gynecomastia?

Put simply, gynecomastia means "breasts resembling female breasts". Another form of gynecomastia is puffy nipples - unnaturally swollen, like small cones. It is important to clarify that gynecomastia is not a disease but an aesthetic defect, which nevertheless has a detrimental effect on male self-esteem.

Today this condition is very common, even among young men. The causes are numerous - hormonal problems, diet, stress, anabolic steroid use, heredity. It does not respond to diet, exercise, or medication.

How is gynecomastia treated?

Surgically, in just an hour and a half. The procedure is performed under general anesthesia, and afterward a one-night hospital stay is required. A special compression dressing is worn for five days. There is a follow-up consultation, and for about a month the patient must wear a special elastic compression vest around the clock. Bruising and swelling disappear within 2-3 weeks. If pain occurs, it feels like muscle soreness.

Does a scar remain?

No. The incision is made in the lower part of the areola and is practically unnoticeable. If the puffy nipples have also been treated, they simply become normally flat.

When is it possible to return to physical activity?

For at least three weeks after the surgery, heavy physical labor and sports should be avoided. After that, there are no restrictions.

Is there a chance it will come back?

No. Once corrected, gynecomastia does not recur.
