Burn treatment is both local and general.
Local treatment aims to heal the burn wounds. This is achieved through dressings and plastic surgery. Dead tissue is removed through dressing changes. This procedure is particularly painful, which is why it is always performed under anesthesia. Specialized dressings containing silver components are used, which keep the wound sterile and promote healing of the superficial burn.
When the burn is deep and cannot heal with dressings alone, plastic surgery is performed, for which we at VITA have an excellent, highly specialized team.
General treatment is carried out when necessary and includes:
- Fluid infusion to compensate for losses from the wounds
- Treatment of accompanying conditions
- Treatment of complications arising from the burn, and others
It is important to know that the processing and treatment of burn wounds must take place in a sterile environment by a qualified team of specialists, and must happen quickly.
Any underestimation of the situation and self-treatment significantly increases the risk of hard-to-treat subsequent complications.
