Rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty is a surgical reshaping of the nose, performed either as a result of trauma or for aesthetic reasons. There are various techniques depending on the starting point and the desired result, depending on whether the bony part needs to be addressed or only the cartilaginous part, whether nostril reduction is needed, cartilage grafting, or the placement of a prosthesis. In aesthetic rhinoplasty, the incision is made inside the nostrils, so that no visible external scars remain. Full anesthesia is required for classic rhinoplasty involving the bony structures. If only a minor correction of the soft, cartilaginous front part of the nose is being performed, corrections are also possible under local anesthesia.

What patients should know before undergoing this surgery:

• Not take Aspirin for one week before the surgery
• Under full anesthesia, a consultation with an anesthesiologist is mandatory in the days before the surgery
• Blood tests
• Under full anesthesia, an overnight stay at the clinic is mandatory
• After the surgery, bruising appears around the eyes and on the cheeks, which fades within a few days. There is no severe pain
• During the postoperative period, there are packs in the nostrils, which remain for 2-3 days, and a plaster cast dressing on the nose, which remains for 10-14 days. The stitches are self-absorbing
• Do not blow your nose for the following two weeks, and sleep with one or two higher pillows
• If you wear glasses that are particularly heavy, avoid wearing them for the following 3-4 weeks
