What is the difference between a surgical facelift and Thread Lifting?
A surgical facelift is performed under general anesthesia and involves tightening the skin and wrinkles of the face, accompanied by tightening of the facial muscles. The incisions run along the skin folds around the ears and within the hairline, which makes them practically invisible. The effect of a surgical facelift lasts between 7 and 10 years.
Thread Lifting is an innovative lifting method using the placement of special resorbable threads. These have cones or barbs that pull the facial skin taut, producing a lifting effect. The procedure is performed under local anesthesia, is painless and gentle, leaves no scars, and the risk of bruising and swelling is minimal. It does not affect normal daily activities in any way. The threads dissolve within about six months to a year. In their place, the body's own connective tissue forms, which maintains the effect for up to two and a half years. A distinction must be made between Thread Lifting and ordinary meso-threads, which only stimulate collagen production without tightening the facial skin.
What are the pros and cons of the two procedures?
With a surgical facelift, the patient is under general anesthesia, the procedure takes 2-3 hours, one night in the hospital is required, as well as wearing a special dressing for several days after the surgery. With Thread Lifting, the threads are placed in 15-20 minutes under local anesthesia, and the patient leaves immediately, without significant visible marks from the procedure.
As for the effect, however, with a surgical facelift it is much better, more comprehensive, and longer-lasting. On the other hand, Thread Lifting is the preferred method for clients who are afraid of surgery, or who simply want faster, painless results, even if the effect is shorter-lived.
In which cases do you recommend Thread Lifting?
Thread Lifting is recommended in cases where the desired effect can be achieved with less trauma to the facial tissues and there is no need for a deeper intervention. Depending on the desired result and the client's individual wishes and specific characteristics, we place a certain number of threads subcutaneously at a specific angle. The procedure allows us to sculpt the face in a very elegant and highly successful way, especially in younger women, in whom skin laxity is only just beginning.
How do we choose the right procedure?
Given the great popularity of thread lifting in recent years, we are increasingly seeing patients who wish to undergo Thread Lifting. We advise all women to make it an absolute priority to consult a specialist first. Whatever forums say, whatever your friends advise you, every person is different and unique. The fact that a given procedure was effective for one person by no means guarantees the same effect for another. Everything is strictly individual, and the choice of a specific procedure depends on many factors - the client's age, the condition of the skin, the desired effect, and of course the specialist's experience. This is the moment to urge everyone not to rush the choice of specialist. It is very important to make an informed choice, to make sure you are going to someone experienced in performing this specific type of procedure, so that you feel at ease and do not regret the results afterward.
