Information

Dyspepsia, indigestion, or upset stomach is a general term that represents a group of gastrointestinal symptoms that occur together.

These symptoms most commonly include a burning sensation, pain, early feeling of fullness when eating, and discomfort in the upper part of the stomach. They usually appear during meals.

These symptoms can be chronic - appearing regularly over weeks and months - occurring from time to time, or functional - accompanying you constantly without a specific cause.

Among the most common causes of this condition are:

  • Diseases of the digestive system - GORD, gastritis, peptic ulcer disease
  • Use of medications: Prolonged or frequent use of certain medications, such as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, antibiotics, corticosteroids, and others, is associated with an increased risk of developing dyspepsia
  • Poor diet - Frequent overeating or fasting, unhealthy eating, and lack of established dietary habits often lead to the appearance of signs of dyspepsia
  • Mental stress - Stress and fatigue often contribute to the development of dyspepsia
