Five nominations for four physicians from the VITA Hospital team have been submitted for this year’s “Doctor of the Year 2026” awards of the Bulgarian Medical Association.
The nominations span four different categories and highlight different aspects of the professional contributions of VITA’s physicians - from the development of modern and innovative treatment methods to long-standing work in their specialty, the development of young specialists, and contributions to the medical profession.
Assoc. Prof. Iliya Karagyozov, MD, PhD has been nominated in two categories - “Contribution to the Development and Strengthening of the Authority of the Professional Organization” and for the grand award “Doctor of the Year 2026”.
In the category “Long-Standing Activity in the Field of Medicine and Active Contribution to the Development of the Specialty,” Prof. Plamen Kinov, MD, PhD, Head of the Clinic of Orthopedics and Traumatology, has been nominated.
Dr. Emil Atanasov, Head of the Clinic of Urology and Pediatric Urology, has been nominated in the category “Contribution to the Development and Application of Innovative Medicine and Unique Techniques”.
In the category “You Are Our Future,” Dr. Ivo Matanov, a specialist in orthopedics and traumatology, has been nominated.
Behind each of the nominations are years of professional experience, work toward advancing medical practice, the introduction of modern methods, scientific and teaching activity, and involvement in professional organizations.
For the VITA Hospital team, these nominations are a recognition of the professionalism and contributions of its physicians, and an opportunity to present their achievements to the professional community.
